Investigating the Effectiveness of Group Metacognitive Therapy on Internet Addiction and Cognitive Emotion Regulation Among Adolescents

Objective: This study aims to investigate the effectiveness of group metacognitive therapy on internet addiction and cognitive-emotional regulation among adolescents. Methods: We used a quasi-experimental design that included pre-test s, post-tests, follow-ups. In 2020-2021 academic year, all male adolescents in Qazvin City, Iran were this study. A total 30 randomly selected assigned intervention or control groups based convenience sampling method (n=15). provided ten 90-min sessions group, while received no intervention. The questionnaire along with cognitive emotion was collect data. conducted multivariate analysis covariance, repeated measures, Fisher least significant difference post hoc test via SPSS software, version 26. Results: results demonstrated significantly affected adolescents’ (P<0.05). addition, revealed different between groups. treatment remained unchanged at follow-up stage Conclusion: It is recommended school family counselors be trained given executive duties therapy, which influences Iranian These methods may assist overactive their families achieving learning goals through empowerment, analysis, interpretation workshops meetings.
